Essential Training for New Telecom Technicians at Linjeproff AS
In April, 2024, after much planning and development, Linjeproff AS has launched an internal training program to help our new telecom technicians get off to a strong start in their roles. This three-day course is designed to teach our new employees the very basics of working in telecommunications, with a special focus on safety. The program covers essential tasks that are core to Linjeproff's operations, including the replacement of poles, demolition of old poles, straightening of the poles, hanging and dismounting cables, mounting bracing wires and other related tasks.

Before any practical work begins, trainees participate in classroom sessions where they first learn the proper procedures for each task. Then, they review the associated risks and how to prevent accidents. This approach ensures they understand both the work itself and the safety measures needed to perform it correctly. Additionally, employees are trained on how to effectively use the internal Linjeproff system, which is essential for reporting, tracking tasks, and ensuring operational procedures are followed accurately. These sessions ensure that every employee understands the importance of safety and is equipped with the necessary knowledge and tools before they step into the field.
Training with Safety as a Priority
The main goal of this training is twofold: First, to give new hires a solid introduction to their jobs, and second, to make sure they understand the potential dangers and how to avoid accidents. Since the work our company performs involves significant risks, particularly when working at heights or dealing with old, unstable poles, safety is our top priority.

We started this training program with a trial run on April 15, 2024. Since then, we've held training in May, June, and August of 2024. Going forward, this course will be conducted every month to ensure that all new employees are well-prepared for their roles. This training is the very first thing our new employees do when joining Linjeproff AS—they will never start work without first completing this training. In fact, before they even attend this internal training, they must complete a mandatory Pole Climbing Course, which is conducted by a certified course organizer in South Norway. Each session of our training program has allowed us to refine and improve the course based on feedback, making it more effective and relevant for our team.

Expert Guidance from Experienced Mentors
Our training is led by skilled employees who have been with Linjeproff AS for many years. These mentors were chosen not just for their experience but also for their ability to communicate clearly and their enthusiasm for teaching. Mentors play a crucial role in the training program, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. They share real-world experiences and ensure that trainees understand the nuances of their tasks, which goes beyond just following procedures. The hands-on guidance from these professionals helps new technicians build confidence and competence as they prepare to enter the field.
The course is also supervised by either the HSE Manager or the Quality Manager from Linjeproff to ensure the quality of the training, manage logistics, and ensure the safety during the training.

Aligning with Linjeproff AS’s Goals
This training program is an important part of Linjeproff AS’s commitment to safety and quality. By providing this training, we aim to reduce workplace accidents, improve the skills of our employees, and help new hires feel more confident as they join their teams. The feedback we've received has been very positive, with participants appreciating the opportunity to learn and practice in a controlled environment before heading out into the field.

Location
We conduct our training in Sandtorg, Harstad, where Linjeproff AS has its operational base. This location is ideal because it offers a dedicated training field with specially constructed poles and a well-equipped classroom. The outdoor setting also exposes trainees to the real-world conditions they’ll face on the job, including the harsh weather typical of Norway. This experience helps prepare them for the challenges they’ll encounter in their daily work.

Building a Strong Team
At Linjeproff AS, we believe that thorough training is key to setting our new team members up for success. By focusing on safety, quality, and hands-on experience, we're not just helping our employees feel confident in their roles—we're also creating a workplace where people feel valued and motivated to grow.
Through this training program, we’re committed to building a skilled, dedicated employee that’s ready to take on the challenges ahead and contribute to our ongoing success. If you’re ready to put in the effort and enjoy the benefits, we’d be happy to welcome you to our team.
